The Tucker Civic Association has invited Kay Sibetta, AARP GA lead for building WHO Age Friendly communities, to the TCA Fall Membership meeting to present how Tucker can become a WHO Age Friendly Community. We will also announce our Citizen of the Year.
Age-friendly or lifelong communities have walkable streets, housing and transportation options, access to key services and opportunities for residents to participate in community activities and resources. The World Health Organization (WHO) and the AARP Network of Age-Friendly States and Communities encourages cities, to pay attention to the environmental, economic and social factors that influence the health and well-being of a city’s residents of all ages. By doing so, these communities are better equipped to become great places, and even lifelong homes, for people of all ages. Developed by the World Health Organization the 8 domains of livability framework is used to organize and prioritize their work to become more livable for people of all ages.
