SPLOST II Resident Review Committee Meeting Set for April 9

The DeKalb County SPLOST II Resident Review Committee will hold its next meeting on Thursday, April 9, 2026, at 6 p.m. at 178 Sams St. in Decatur.

The meeting will provide residents an opportunity to receive updates and learn more about projects funded through the county’s Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (SPLOST II) program, which supports infrastructure improvements and other capital needs across DeKalb County.

Committee meetings are open to the public, and residents are encouraged to attend to stay informed and engaged in how SPLOST II funds are being allocated and managed.

District 1 Town Hall Series Continues with Focus Public Works, Public Safety Meeting Set for April 18

The second of three meetings designed to address residents’ concerns directly was held on Saturday, March 21, 2026 at the Embry Hills Library.

The session focused on roads, DeKalb Beautification Unit, and more with DeKalb County Public Works Director Robert Gordon. Director Gordon provided updates on pothole repairs, street paving and how projects are prioritized. Gordon also led an interactive question-and-answer session, offering residents the opportunity to raise concerns and receive real-time feedback.

I want to thank Director Gordon for his presentation and residents for their strong participation. Attendees came prepared with written questions, contributing to a productive and engaging discussion.

The final meeting in the series is scheduled for Saturday, April 18, and will focus on public safety. Representatives from DeKalb County Police and DeKalb County Fire Rescue are expected to attend and address concerns related to issues such as drag racing, celebratory gunfire and other community safety matters.

Due to high interest, organizers are considering moving the April 18 meeting to a larger venue. Residents are encouraged to pre-register to reserve a seat. Those who register will receive email updates with additional details, including any potential location changes.
