***POSTPONED FOR SATURDAY 2/15 DUE TO WEATHER - WATCH FOR RE-SCHEDULED EVENT***HENDERSON PARK WEST - NATIVE PLANT & WILDLIFE WALK - COMMUNITY WORKDAY THIS SATURDAY 2/15, 10:00 AM - 12:00 NOONThis Saturday, February 15, Master Gardeners will host a community workday from 10:00 until noon at the Native Plant and Wildlife Walk (NPWW) in Henderson Park West (2723 Henderson Rd, Tucker). All ages are welcome, but minors must be accompanied by an adult.Winter is the perfect time of year to tackle English ivy removal at the NPWW. For the past few years, we have worked hard to rescue trees from English ivy, and we have made great progress! This Saturday we will remove ivy that has crept back up trees inside the paved walking trail since last winter.We recommend that you wear long sleeves, gloves, and heavy shoes whenever you work at the park. For those of you with sensitive skin, consider using a protectant on bare skin as well (i.e., TechNu, zinc oxide, or even diaper rash cream). You do not have to bring tools, but if you have a pry bar, hand pruners, or a hand saw, they will come in handy.Master Gardeners will be on hand Saturday to demonstrate how to safely pull ivy from trees.
